Observation of Mask day

Akash Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Devanahalli observed Mask Day on 18th June 2020 as per Government of Karnataka’s directive - to increase the awareness on prevention of COVID-19 in the community. The occasion was chaired by Mr. Ajith Kumar Rai, Tahasildar, Devanahalli Taluk and Mr. Arun Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Doddaballapura Sub division. Chief guests included Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Muniraju, Hon’ble Vice Chairman Mr. Amar M. Gowda, Hon’ble Principal Dr. H. S. Somashekar and Dr. Kailash, Medical Superintendent, AIMS&RC, Devanahalli. The event was attended by all the teaching and non-teaching faculty of Akash, public and the Media, with strict adherence to social distancing norms.

• The event started with a formal welcome speech by Dr. Vidya R., Asst. Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine.
• This was followed by a talk on the importance of Mask Day by Dr. Sunil Kumar D.R., Professor & Head, Dept. of Community Medicine.
• A session on Proper usage, Dos and Don’ts of Masks’ usage was taken by Dr. Ravishankar S, Professor & Head, Dept. of General Medicine.
• Anchoring and co-ordination of the course of events was done by Dr. Chandani A.K., Asst. Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine.
• Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sudha Patil, Professor & Head, Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Around 10,000 masks were distributed to the general public by the Management of Akash Hospital at various locations in the community to honor the occasion.

Other public places covered were - Devanahalli Toll gate, Taluk office and police stations at Devanahalli. Masks were also distributed to 20 nearby villages through ambulance.
