The Department of Anatomy envisages building a strong foundation of competencies in gross anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroanatomy, osteology, surface anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, and radiological anatomy. The department is equipped with resources for the conduct of research in microscopic anatomy, gross anatomy, anthropometry, histological techniques, museum techniques, and image analysis.
Undergraduate programmes: Innovative teaching and learning methods such as flipped classrooms, case-based learning, and blended classrooms are applied to make learning anatomy engaging and dynamic. Emphasis is given to mentoring learners and fostering their keen interest in long-term retention of knowledge. We pay attention to the time management and stress management abilities of learners. They actively participate in model-making and art-making competitions and make their learning interesting. Innovative workshops of this year include vertical integrated OSPE session for coronary anatomy and ECG, surgically accessible viscera, hands on demonstration of muscle testing by physiotherapy department.
It has the best teaching facility with audio-visual aids such as overhead projectors and learning management systems, camera attached digital microscopy, gamification applications to cater to the learning needs of the tech-savvy generation of undergraduate students. The fundamental knowledge of anatomy is imparted to medical, nursing, physiotherapy, allied health sciences, and paramedical students.
Postgraduate programmes: Cadaveric workshops are planned to enhance the proficiency of postgraduates. Formative assessments along with feedback sessions are conducted at regular intervals to improve student performance.
Research initiatives: Our learners are encouraged to participate in scientific sessions held at state and national conferences which adds to their credentials.
“After I die if am buried, I will rot. If I am burnt, I will be ash but if my body is donated, I will live to give life and knowledge to many”. Every year, the learners perform street play to create awareness amongst the general public about voluntary body donation.
