On the occasion of “World Mental Health Day-2022”, the Department of Psychiatry in collaboration with the District Mental Health Program- Bangalore Rural organised a program at Akash Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre on 21/10/2022. Dr C R Chandrashekar, Retd. Professor NIMHANS, the guest speaker, addressed the gathering about the importance of mental health in this era and emphasised this year’s WMHD theme: ‘Making Mental Health & Well-being for all a global priority. Dr. Vyjayanthi S, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, AIMSRC spoke about ‘HOME: When the safe space becomes unsafe’ on the occasion of “National Domestic Violence awareness month”.

Ganapathi visarja was celebrated grandly with great excitement and enthusiasm and Akash institutions today.

This is one gala annual event where the management, faculty, staff and students all come together dancing, shouting slogans and celebrating Lord Ganesha while seeking his blessings. A truly memorable day at our institution.

Akash Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Akash Hospital, Devanahalli, Bangalore in association with Foundation for Quality India (FQI) Accredited by NBQP Division of FQI has organized 4 days workshop on International Lead Auditors Certificate Program as per ISO 15189:2022 from 2nd October to 5th October. Training was given by renowned course faculty which included Dr. Thuppil Venkatesh, Chief Executive Director, Foundation for Quality India (FQI) and Director, National Referral Centre for Lead Projects in India (NRCLPI) and also known as the Lead man of India.

Department of psychiatry conducted mental health awareness programme today on the occasion of "World Mental Health Day".

The theme behind today's programme is "mental health is a universal human right" which is to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone's mental health as universal human right.

Renowned guest speaker for the occasion was Dr Ravish B N HOD & Professor, department of psychiatry at Mysore Medical College who emphasised on positive mental health and how to develop resilience.

2nd talk of the day was by proficient psychiatrist Dr Mohan Sunil Kumar who is director of Augmenta Health, Bengaluru. He highlighted on the good, bad and the ugly side of technology in mental.

Honorable Distric Health Officer, Dr MC Sunil kumar was invited as the guest of honour. He shed some light on importance of mental health.

We had a gathering of 300+ audience ranging from young adults to senior faculties.

It was a day of academic feast on mental health which is the need of the hour.

Inauguration of Bengaluru Rural District "Anaemia Mukht Poushtika Karnataka "Program by Dist Administration,Dist Health and Welfare Office at Akash Institute of Medical Sciences on 8th Dec 23

DHO Dr.Sunil Kumar M.C.,Dist Program Officers and other Govt Officials of Bangalore Rural Dist and Dr.Naresh Shetty,CEO ,Dr.Brijesh Medical Superintendent,Dr.Sunil Hedge ,RMO and Dr.Sunil Kumar,Prof and Head ,Dept of Community Medicine,AIMS& RC were the chief guests on the occasion.

Iron and Folic acid tablets were distributed to adolescent students for the management of anaemia.

At Akash Group of Institutions, We have taken seriously the call made by our beloved PM Narendra Modiji for a 'Clean India Mission' under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme this October 1st on it's 9th Anniversary.

Just like the great leaders who took up the cleanliness drive themselves, we too at Akash joined hands today to adopt the Devanahalli Railway station as per this Year's motto of 'Ek tarik. Ek Granta. Ek divas' and took responsibility of cleaning the entire premises.

Around 200 students volunteered for this program along with the management, senior leadership and faculty who actively created awareness on the same. The Bangalore rural DC along with other government officials were also part of our initiative.

From the station, to the offices, to the platform all the way to the railway tracks, we divided ourselves into different groups and collected waste debris from all nooks and corners. We also segregated the waste into Dry & Wet categories for correct disposal. We educated the station employees on creating similar awareness to all passengers through visual appeals.

It was an eventful day at Akash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMSRC).

The department of Emergency Medicine at Akash Hospital, under the guidance of Dr. Abdul Hadi Shareef conducted a seminar on the 'Essentials and Advances in Emergency Medicine & Critical care'.

This was an initiative under continuing medical education and the occasion was graced by Chairperson Mrs. Pushpa Muniraju, Vice president Mr. Amar Gowda, CEO Dr. Naresh Shetty and Medical superintendent Dr. Brijesh K. The event was very interactive and informative with valuable inputs from the speakers to the delegates who were present from other Medical colleges and Hospitals.

Special thanks to Dr. Shailesh Shetty Shibaroor from Aster hospital for honouring us with his presence and enlightening us on the latest advancements in the field of emergency medicine and critical care.

For World Hepatitis Day, The Rotaract club of the caduceus conducted an event to spread awareness of Hepatitis B to the patients in AIMSRC. The club members visited the wards to counsel patients and encourage them to take the vaccine. Students introduced the Rotaract club of caduceus to the class through a ppt and talked about the club's vision. Later the teachers spoke a few words about their experience with hepatitis vaccinations and the importance of taking vaccines for Healthcare workers. The session ended with a vote of thanks.

Times Health Survey -Akash Hospital - Reaching for the sky

As per NMC guidelines CPR awareness programme was conducted at Akash Hospital on 06/12/2023, Head of departments and consultants from dept of Anaesthesia, Medicine, Emergency Medicine , Surgery and OBG as well as 400 paramedical staffs came to grace the occasion audio visual presentation followed by theoretical explanation of the steps of CPR were done and concluded with the practical demonstration of the same synergy of there team and the dynamic audience brilliant made the event a great success.

Akash Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre,Akash Hospital, Devanahalli, Bangalore, in association with Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisation (CAHO) has hosted an Awareness program on ISO 15189:2022, organized by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), on 24th NOV & 25th NOV 2023. The training was Conducted by Joint director of NABL Dr. Gayathri and total 74 participants at various Capacities engaged in diagnostics / Hospital Laboratories and Clinical research laboratories had registered for this program. The program was a great success and the certificates were distributed at the end for all participants.

Department of Neurosurgery on the implication of Administration in coordination with Neurosurgeons conducted an event for the Inception of Neurosurgery department in AIMSRC. The event was hosted by Dr.Sneha.K.R(PG in Neurosurgery). Dr.Venkata Krishna. B introduced and welcomed the guests. The introduction of the Neurosurgery team was handled by Dr.Sandesh. Dr.Shiva Kumar(HoD dept of Neurosurgery) gave a talk on “Neurosurgical overview & Advances”. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr.Murthy Kumar.(Unit head of surgery Dept). High tea was arranged.

The E-Newsletter committee of the Akash Institute of medical science and research center conducted a launch event for its first edition of the E-Newsletter. Dr.RahulShetty (Prof. Dept of Plastic Surgery) hosted the event. Dr.Sunil Kumar. D.R. (Chief editor, HoD Dept of Comunity Medicine) spoke a few words on the journey of creating the First edition of the Newsletter and how the idea started as a brainchild from the Vice chairman of AIMSRC Shri.Amar Gowda. Then the dignitaries gathered to launch the name “AkashVani” on the electric screen. The event proceeded with the speech rendered by VC Shri. Amar Gowda, he spoke regarding the success of the event and the ideas for enhancing the Newsletter. Joining him, the Principle gave his speech recommending that journals can be included. The event continued with a speech by the Medical Superintendent where he congratulated the committee on its successful event. Succeeding that, there was an interactive session where the audience gave their feedback on the event. High tea was offered.

Every year the 15th of October is celebrated as World anatomy day to commemorate the death anniversary of Andrew Vesalius, the father of modern anatomy. On this occasion, Society of Clinical anatomists had organised an online national level essay writing competition under the category of faculty titled “Implications of Evidence- based anatomy” on 15/10/2022. Dr. Vasudha Kulkarni, Professor and HOD, Anatomy of Akash Institute of Medical Sciences won the first prize in this competition. The writeup is being published in National journal of Clinical Anatomy.

Anatomy art competition

We at Akash Institute of medical sciences and research centre aim at fostering holistic growth of medical professionals. We constantly strive to ensure that the medical students could inculcate team building skills, creativity, critical thinking and leadership qualities.
To drive in this path, we organised an ANATOMY ART COMPETITION for first year medical students at the department of anatomy on 02/07/2022, Saturday.
The competition comprised of 15 teams with 10 participants in each team. The focal point of the competition was representation of anatomy facts of any form.1 st prize was bagged by team 15 (Vinayak and team) – Major nerves of Upper limb, 2 nd prize by team 12 (Sai Thanisha and team) – Rangoli of stages of development of embryo, 3 rd prize was bagged by team 11(Priyanka Patil and team)- Model of Development of lung using wheat flour dough and model showing lung pathology.

22 nd KCACON (Karnataka Chapter of Anatomists Conference)

22 nd KCACON (Karnataka Chapter of Anatomists Conference) was held at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Hassan from 16 th September 2022 to 18 th September 2022.
Forty eight medical students from various medical colleges of Karnataka participated in the conference for the events of scientific paper and oral presentations and quiz competition on 18 th September 2022, Sunday.
Seven first year medical students of Akash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Devanahalli, Bengaluru presented scientific paper and poster presentations in the 22 nd KCACON. Ms. Leya HM, won the award for best poster presentation for the scientific poster titled “Clinical assessment of association of Palmaris Longus with gender and hand dominance”.

Ganesha Chaturthi is a festival of celebration of joy and festivity and people all over the world come together to worship Lord Ganesha and seek his blessings. At Akash, all the students and faculty come together as a community to celebrate the festival. Believe me, each year we celebrate it with grace and grandeur, and this year was no exception, wisdom, good fortune and prosperity.

Inauguration Ceremony of Centre for Advanced Simulation
Akash institute of medical sciences and research centre, Devenahalli, officially inaugurated Akash Centre for Advanced Simulation. This simulation centre is a state of the art skill learning centre equipped with most advanced mannequins with cutting edge technology.

The management and faculty were elated to inaugurate the simulation centre on the same day as the inauguration of ram mandir in Ayodhya is a special feeling.

Honorable vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences, DR M.K RAMESH graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was impressed to see the new age simulation centre with advanced technology.

Management's vision behind the simulation centre is to ensure that the gap between theory and practicals is bridged by providing our medical students with the necessary basic skills for later clinical activity by means of models, phantoms integrated with cutting edge technology.

"TITAL" SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVED HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
Hair transplantation is safe and relatively painless procedure which restores and grows hair naturally. It gives ultimate permanent remedy for baldness. Hair transplantation procedure includes removal of hair from the back of the scalp (donor area) and transferred to the bald area (recipient area). The transplanted hair will have same features like the donor area. There are different types of techniques like FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) and DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) that are used to do the hair transplantation. It is a painful day for the akash institution and department of general medicine because the two legendary professor are completing their term and superannuation ,who gave their heart, dedicated themselves in healing the patient and changes the face of the institution and never felt tired and on that teaching the young faculty by sharing their experience and to post graduates, undergraduate about the approach to a disease,how to treat and hor to counsel their attender about the conditions and without depending on investigation how to come to diagnosis.
